Assalamualaikum Peeps!
How's your day? I hope you always in a pink !
This time I would like to tell you about the third week of industrial training as a practical teacher at Taska Syaz Gong Badak.
10 October 2021 (Sunday)
The
practical teacher started making activities after the children ate at 9.30 am.
The other activity performed by the practical teacher was the activity of
inserting a button into a hole in the cloth. Those activities can provide opportunities
for children to practice eye and hand coordination. At the same time, children
can train their fine motor because children have to hold the button using their
fingers.
Through the activity, I found that the children
were interested in the activity because the teacher used colorful and
eye-catching fabrics. Therefore, we can see that the color for teaching aids
used also plays an important role. So, as an educator, it is necessary to
emphasize the important features of teaching aids that will be used in the
teaching and learning process.
11 October 2021 (Monday)
I caught
the children’s attention by showing the teaching aids to be used. Children
perform activities in a room different from other children to avoid losing
focus due to external distractions. The activity was a color wheel that used
paper plates and colored eight types of colors. The children were also able to
achieve the objectives set by me where the children were able to pronounce and
recognize the colors used. Children can match the color wheel according to the
same color.
Each time an activity is created, all teachers
are required to send pictures of children's activities in a WhatsApp group with
parents. The parents of the children were satisfied with the activities carried
out and praised the efforts that had been poured in by the teachers. We feel
happy to be praised like that which shows that our efforts have been successful
in making teaching aids interesting.12 October 2021 (Tuesday)
Today
I did not provide any activities because today was the other practical
teacher's turn to create the activities. While the children were doing
activities, other children did not do activities because they were one year old
who were already can walk. Therefore, I felt that as a teacher, I must always
have the idea to create activities for other children so they can also enhance
their development holistically. Planned activities are not necessarily
activities that need to use teaching aids. Activities can also be done without
materials that require body movements such as doing locomotor movements.
Therefore, I need to make sure that children in that category also do
activities that stimulate their development.
13 October 2021 (Wednesday)
Today
I was able to learn about the importance of the children’s readiness to do
something. Because, when the teacher wants to do an activity, a child did not
want to do the activity even though had been persuaded by the teacher. The
child rarely speaks and can only be heard when the child is playing a game.
When it was her turn to do the activity, the child insisted and did not want to
hold the materials. I tried to find the cause of the problem and found that the
child was distracted by distractions made by other children. Therefore, I need
to ensure an environment for children while doing activities because it can
affect the children's attention to something. When trying to do activities,
children need to be ready so that they do not feel forced. If forced, it will
affect children. I need to be more sensitive and find ways to get the
children’s attention to do activities in the future.
14 October 2021 (Thursday)
No teaching
and learning process was done because children are allowed to play freely. I
and the other teachers only acted as facilitators and observers. However, I
learned something valuable that I should not be too panicked when an unwanted
accident happens. It is because, during the time the children changed diapers
before eating at 11.30 am, a child, Sumayyah, was playing with Marissa's pants
which were changing diapers. Sumayyah wore the pants up to her ankle and walked
around the place. While Marissa was about to wear her pants, Marissa took the
pants worn by Sumayyah which resulted in Sumayyah falling and bumping her cheek
to the floor. The situation was very thrilling because I witnessed the thing. I
continued to take Sumayyah who was crying and persuaded her. I found that
Sumayyah's cheeks became reddish and had bruising marks. I informed the matter
to the teacher on duty and I was asked to gently poke Sumayyah’s cheeks using
hot breath through my mouth. Over time, the redness began to subside and showed
the effects of bruising. The teacher took the ice and put it on Sumayyah's
cheek. The bruises began to fade but were still visible. I feel that if I panic
in that situation, there are chances where I did something wrong. So, in case
something untoward happens, I have to always be calm and inform the teacher on
duty to get the next instruction. This is because my knowledge and experience
are still shallow. I need to study with someone who is experienced in such matters
to ensure that I deal with the problem better in the future.
That's all from me for the third week of Practicum at Taska Syaz Gong Badak Branch. Thank you for reading my journey.😉
Stay safe! 💙
