Assalamualaikum Peeps!
How's your day? I hope you always in a pink !
This time I would like to tell you about the eighth week of industrial training as a practical teacher at Tadika Syaz Gong Badak.
This week
is a transportation theme. On the first day of the 8th week of the practical at
Tadika Syaz, I had planned to do a teaching and learning process which is about
the name of transportation. Before that, children were allowed to enter the
Tadika at 8.30 am and I recorded the children's names and temperature to comply
with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) set by the National Security
Council (MKN). After making sure all the children had their health levels
checked, the children were required to make circle time. I led the circle time
by starting to speak freely and ending with Dua and Zikr.
Once all the routines were completed, I asked the children to line up and move into their respective classes according to age. I walked into the classroom asking the children to take chairs. I started the teaching and learning process for 30 minutes. At 10.30 am, children are required to go to the kitchen and eat. Children are accustomed to reciting prayers before meals and ending with a recitation of prayers after meals.
The
teaching and learning process carried out today is about the identification of
vehicle names. Nine vehicles were introduced using flashcards. I found that at
the end of the teaching and learning process, children were able to recognize
and name vehicles based on well-used flashcards. The method of repetition in
the pronunciation of the name of the vehicle. This method is very effective to
ensure that children can pronounce the name of the vehicle correctly.
At 11.30
am, children are required to line up in the gathering room to recite some Dua
to close the class. After that, children are allowed to take their bags for a
shower. The girls ’toilets and the boys’ toilets were separated and I was
assigned to take care of the girls.
After the
children take a bath, the children need to go to the kitchen and wash their
hands to get ready for lunch. On this day, children need to practice prayers
for the time of Zohor to give widespread exposure. After that, children who
drank milk were given milk. Children are assigned to recite prayers before bed
and chair verses to familiarize the children to recite in their daily lives.
After making sure all the children are asleep, the teacher has to take care of
the children to prevent any bad things from happening until 2.00 pm. I started
went back to the rented house.
Given that in the previous teaching and learning process, I have taught about the name of transportation, so today I continue the teaching about transportation which is about the types of transportation. Three types of transportation have been introduced namely water transport, land transport, and air transport.
After I clarified about the teaching related to the type of transportation, I had shown a classified board to make sure whether the children are already able to master what they have learned. Through the activity, I found that the children recognized the names of the selected flashcards and were able to classify according to the correct type of transport. Therefore, I must always choose activities that are appropriate to the teaching and learning process to ensure that children can master something before moving on to something else.
After the
teaching and learning process is over, children are allowed to play with their
peers. There are also several children watching television. Screen time is
applied in children when they are in Tadika. This is to ensure that children
are not addicted to watching television in Tadika so that they are not
interested in socializing with other friends.
7 September 2021 (Tuesday)
I have prepared an activity where children were asked to draw and color paper cups according to their creativity. This activity is called windmill hand.
This activity is an activity for children to express their creativity through drawing and coloring activities. At the same time, I was also able to integrate a lesson about wind where the windmill hand can rotate if there is the presence of wind.
While the
activity of drawing and coloring on paper cups can be difficult for children to
do, I find that they are still able to complete it very well without giving up.
This shows a great side to the children's self as they do not give up when
completing assignments despite some complaints about the difficulties
experienced.
After decorating the paper cup, I prepared the hand windmill because it required the use of a hot glue gun to stick the skewer in the middle of the paper cup. Children are not allowed to complete it until the final process because to prevent something undesirable from happening as the hot glue gun is very hot and need to be careful while using it. Upon completion of the activity, the children were allowed to play with their work and play freely before bathing.
On this
day, children are required to take a shower earlier than they should at 10.30
am. This is because, at 11.00 am, I have an affair where I need to send a
friend to a nearby clinic to attend an appointment that has been set. Since
only a teacher was on duty at Tadika this week, I helped manage the children in
advance to make it easier for the teacher.
Therefore,
no teaching and learning process is carried out. Children are only required to
complete their exercise books and I work as a guidance teacher. While each
child has to complete a different page or even a different exercise, I still
treat the children one at a time and make sure no children are left out.
I returned
to the Tadika at noon after all the business was done. At that time, the
children had just finished eating. As there is no teaching and learning process
implemented today, I informed the children to take the mat and the prayer mat
and get ready to perform the Zuhr prayer. After the children finished the
practical, the children continued to tidy up the place and took the bed for
bedtime.
The
activity carried out on the last day of the eighth week is the shark bracelet.
To attract the children's interest to carry out the activity, I went into the
room to do the activity by wearing the shark bracelet. The excited faces of the
children could be seen. Without wasting time, I gave the worksheet after
explaining the activity.
There was one thing that shocked me which was a six-year-old boy who was stating that men should not wear bracelets. I was silent to answer the matter because I realized that I was not sensitive about the matter. So I just asked the boys to complete their work without wearing it. The boys agree with that.
After the
children finished doing the activity, the children were given time to play
freely with the shark bracelet. Kids love it so much that kids want to wear it
again after eating.
Before the lunchtime, I started the class for six years old for observation by practicum supervisor via Google Meet. I chose to teach about the life cycle of frog using 3D teaching aids.
The children excited with the lesson and I got some positive feedback from my supervisor.
