Assalamualaikum Peeps!
How's your day? I hope you always in a pink !
This time I would like to tell you about the fifth week of industrial training as a practical teacher at Tadika Syaz Gong Badak.
The end of
the 8th month is the day to celebrate the independence of our country.
Therefore, I took this opportunity to introduce the state flags in Malaysia. I
have started with the state of Perlis. I had introduced Perlis's flag using a
flashcard. At the beginning of the teaching and learning process, I stated that
in Malaysia, there are 13 states and federations. Through this process, I
introduced the flag along with its color and meaning. At the end of Step 1,
children can state the correct color and arrangement of the Perlis flag without
looking at the flashcard. This indicates that the child is achieving the
learning objectives that had been set.
The activity is to color the Perlis flag correctly where children are required to make the flag using the collage technique without looking at the flashcard to ensure that the child understands it well. I also found that the children do it well and did not exceed the flag line.
Upon
completion of the teaching and learning process, children are required to close
the class by reciting some Dua. After that, the children were assigned to take
a shower and I need to take care of them when shower to make sure nothing
happens. Children are fed after they have finished bathing and will play freely
before bedtime. As usual, teachers need to take care of them while they sleep
and send the children to the gate when the parents invite them home. At 2 p.m.,
I was allowed to go home.
After
making sure all the children had entered Tadika, I started the circle time by
asking the children to line up. I start by saying hello and others and
continues by reciting some Dua. Once the circle time was over, I asked the
6-year-old to come into the classroom and get ready to learn. I choose to sit
on the floor to make it easier for the children to see what I am going to do.
I have
chosen to teach about absorbent and non -absorbent materials through
experimental methods. There are 4 materials had provided which are broken down
into two categories. For the water-absorbing category, I chose to use tissues
and cloth. For the category that does not absorb water, plastic and aluminum
had been chosen. After explaining absorption and non-absorption, I introduce
the material to the children. Before starting the experiment, the children
assumed in advance whether the material used was in which category.
Experiments were performed in which both ends of the material were dipped in two different colors of water. This experiment is called walking water. If the material absorbs, the color of the fabric will change as it is dipped in watercolor. Children were allowed to experiment with walking water using tissue materials. Children have so much fun when the tissues they put in change color.
I can
conclude that the objectives set can be achieved by the child. This is because
children can make assumptions well and correctly. At the same time, children
also can answer some questions related to the teaching and learning process.
I can feel
that the experimental method is very effective and suitable for the age of
children. This is because curiosity in children is very high. Through this
method, children can explore a variety of things using their various skills.
Tuesday is a day to do activities at Tadika Syaz Gong Badak. I have prepared an activity where children have to draw their palms under the rocket drawing. The palms are considered like rocket fire. This activity is called hand rocketing.
From 8.00 am until 8.30 am, I wait at the front of the Tadika to pick up the children who come. During those 30 minutes, children are given the opportunity to play games with other friends. After that, children are required to pick up bags and line up to enter Tadika. After the teacher recorded the child’s name and temperature to ensure the child present was in good health, the child was asked to place the bag and slippers on the shelves provided. Within 5 minutes, children are asked to line up and get ready to start circle time. Upon completion of circle time, children need to enter their respective classrooms to begin the teaching and learning process.
I have chosen to introduce Perak's flag. I have used flashcards as teaching aids so that children can see the flag clearly. Before I introduce the colors in the Perak flag, I ask the children to spell the name of the state of Perak after saying it together with me. I explain about the flag and asks the children questions related to the flag. I found that the children were able to answer it well even without looking at the flashcard. This shows that the child is able to achieve the objectives set by the teacher.
The
activity is to color the worksheet which is the Perak flag correctly which the
children have to color using the correct color and position. After the children
have finished coloring, I ask the children to write the name for the state in
the space below the flag. I attach a skewer to the end of the flag to make it
easier for the children to hold it.
Upon
completion of the activity, the children were given the opportunity to play
with their work and play freely before bathing. Before bathing, children need
to recite some prayers to close the class. Children are allowed to pick up bags
and shower. Girls and boys are separated from bath. After the children
bathed, they were instructed to go to the kitchen and eat. At 12.45 pm, the
children were instructed to take their beds and I was assigned to look after
the children until the children were asleep and allowed to go home at 2.00 pm.
On the last
day of the fifth week of practicum at Tadika, I have chosen to introduce the
next state which is the Kedah flag. I have used flashcards as teaching aids so
that children can see the flag clearly. Before I introduce the colors and
elements in the Kedah flag, the children need to spell the name of the state
after saying it together. I explained about the flag and asks the children
questions related to the flag. I found that the children were able to answer it
well even without looking at the flashcard. This shows that the child is able
to achieve the objectives set by the teacher.
The
activity is to color the worksheet which is the Kedah flag correctly which the
children have to color correctly. After the children have finished coloring, I
asked the children to write the name for the state in the space below the flag.
I attached a skewer to the end of the flag to make it easier for the children
to hold it.
Upon
completion of the activity, the children were given the opportunity to play
with their work and play freely before bathing. Before bathing, children need
to recite some prayers to close the class. Children are allowed to pick up bags
and shower. Girls and boys are separated from bathing. After the children
bathed, they were instructed to go to the kitchen and eat. At 12.15 noon,
children are required to practice Zuhr prayer before they go to bed. I need to
look after the children until the children were asleep and went back home at
2.00 pm.
