NINTH WEEK OF PRACTICUM AT TADIKA SYAZ GONG BADAK

Assalamualaikum Peeps!

How's your day? I hope you always in a pink !

This time I would like to tell you about the ninth week of industrial training as a practical teacher at Tadika Syaz Gong Badak.

12 September 2021 (Sunday)

Today, I teach kids about shape. I chose four shapes namely square, rectangle, circle, and triangle. Through the lessons and activities carried out, children can identify the shapes shown. However, I feel that the teaching aids used are not interesting. This is because I only draw the shape on the whiteboard, so the child cannot feel and see more clearly the features of the shape. Therefore, in the future, I need to provide interesting teaching aids to help increase understanding and interest in the teaching.

13 September 2021 (Monday)

From 8.00 am until 8.30 am, I waited at the gate of Tadika to pick up the children who came. During those 30 minutes, children are allowed to play games with other friends. After that, children are required to pick up bags and line up to enter Tadika. After I recorded the child’s name and temperature to ensure the child present was in good health, the child was asked to place the bag and slippers on the shelves provided. Within 5 minutes, children are asked to line up and get ready to start circle time. Upon completion of circle time, children need to enter their respective classrooms to begin the teaching and learning process.

As I was getting ready to begin the teaching and learning process, I realized that I was not carrying the teaching aids I wanted to use. As a result, I was unable to continue the planned teaching and learning process. I asked the children to complete their exercise books and the teacher acted as the guidance teacher.

After the children rest, a lecturer from UMT came to visit Tadika to do socio-emotional research. Therefore, the teacher observes the children and supervises the children to facilitate the work of the lecturer. Upon completion of the activities carried out by the lecturer and a practical teacher, the lecturer distributed souvenirs as a token of appreciation to participate in the research.

The children began getting ready to shower and eat after the photo session was over.

14 September 2021 (Tuesday)

Usually, on Tuesdays, I complete activities that involve children’s creativity. However, I discussed with other practical teachers to do physical activities where children have to sing and dance. I choose to perform physical activity is because I want children to actively engage themselves.

Singing and dancing activities are started by doing simple exercises before moving actively. Several songs are played that have dance elements such as Gummy Bear and others. Children start to get tired of having used up their energy. So, at 10.30 am, the activity ended and the children got ready to eat.

After that, the children were given the existing toys in the Tadika and I acted as the facilitator. I also created a role-playing element where I opened a clinic and children came in for vaccines. This role play benefits children so that they have fun and are not afraid of needles in the future. Therefore, this method can be used at any time even spontaneously by using existing items.

15 September 2021 (Wednesday)

Because tomorrow is a holiday for Malaysia, which is Malaysia Day Holiday, I had prepared activities that involve children's creativity. The activity played is a Fortune Teller shaped like an owl. Before I started the activity, I explained about the activity and used the fortune teller that was ready to attract the children's attention.

I moved the mouth of the fortune teller and made a noise. The children were very amused by the matter and could not wait to complete their work. Upon completion of the activity, the children were allowed to play with their work and play freely before bathing.
