Assalamualaikum Peeps!
How's your day? I hope you always in a pink !
This time I would like to tell you about the seventh week of industrial training as a practical teacher at Tadika Syaz Gong Badak.
As this week is the week to celebrate Independence Day, I took this opportunity to introduce Terengganu's flag. Before beginning the teaching and learning process, I gave some questions to the children related to the state in which they are residing. I helped them because they seem to lack the confidence to answer. I showed a Terengganu flag flashcard in front of the children. I stated the name of the state repeatedly and asks the children to say it together.
After that,
I introduced the colors and elements in the Terengganu flag. In between, I also
explained the symbols for the elements. Even just as an interlude, children
remain focused and remember it well. Children can answer questions related to
the flag that indicates the child is achieving the objectives set by me.
The activity provided for the teaching and learning process for the Terengganu flag is to make the Tengkolak of the Terengganu flag.
To attract the children's attention, the teacher re-enters the classroom wearing a Tengkolak that has been colored. The children looked excited and happy to do it. After the children have finished coloring, the children are required to cut out the worksheet according to the lines provided. Some children still need my help, and some can cut by themselves. I combined the worksheets that had been cut out to produce the Tengkolak of the Terengganu flag. The faces of joy and pride were shown by the children while wearing their work. This shows that this activity can attract children's interest in continuous learning.
From 8.00 am until 8.30 am, I waited in front of Tadika to pick up the children. During those 30 minutes, children are allowed to play games with other friends. After that, children are required to pick up bags and line up to enter Tadika. After I recorded the children’s names and temperature to ensure the children present were in good health, the children were asked to place the bag and slippers on the shelves provided. Within 5 minutes, children were asked to line up and get ready to start circle time. Upon completion of circle time, children need to enter their respective classrooms to begin the teaching and learning process. Today is the day before celebrating Independence Day which is 30 August 2021, as tomorrow is a public holiday, I had prepared materials to make masks. The mask that will be done is the Jalur Gemilang mask.
I chose to
introduce the Jalur Gemilang flag. I have used flashcards as teaching aids so
that children can see the flag. Before the teacher introduces the colors in the
Jalur Gemilang, I ask the children to spell the name of the flag after saying
it together. I explained about the flag and asks the children questions related
to the flag. I found that the children were able to answer it well even without
looking at the flashcard. This shows that the child can achieve the objectives
that had been set.
The activity is to color the Jalur Gemilang mask correctly which the children have to color using the correct color and position. After the children have finished coloring, I asked the children to cut out the worksheet to place the rope. Before performing the activity, I wore a mask that has been prepared to attract the children's attention. Children are excited when wearing masks for their work.
After making sure all the children had entered Tadika, I started the circle time by asking the children to line up. I started by saying hello and so on and continues by reciting some prayers. Once the circle time was over, I asked the children to pick up tables and chairs. Thursday is a day to do activities. Therefore, the children have done the activity of making straw rockets.
The
materials that have been prepared are straws and rocket worksheets. The
children used their creativity to color the worksheet using their respective
colored pencils. I had shown an example of a ready-made straw rocket and how to
play it. Children feel excited to do activities. Once the children are ready to
color, I asked the children to cut according to the lines that have been drawn.
Through shearing, children can train fine motor development as well as eye and
hand coordination.
After I
attached a large-sized straw to the back of the child’s rocket, I gave a
small-sized straw to the child to put into the large-sized straw and blow it
up. Children were given time to play with their work under my observation after
the tables and chairs were set aside.
