Assalamualaikum Peeps!
How's your day? I hope you always in a pink !
This time I would like to tell you about the sixth week of industrial training as a practical teacher at Tadika Syaz Gong Badak.
After
making sure all the children had entered Tadika, the teacher started the circle
time by asking the children to line up. The teacher starts by saying hello and
others and continues by reciting some prayers. Once the circle time was over, I
asked the 6-year-old to come into the classroom and get ready to learn. I chose
to sit on the floor to make it easier for the children to see what I am going
to do.
I had
chosen to teach about soluble and insoluble substances in water through
experimental methods. There are 4 materials had been provided which are broken
down into two categories. For the water-soluble category, I chose to use salt
and sugar. For the insoluble category in water, sand and stone had been used.
After explaining soluble and insoluble, I introduced the material to the
children. Before starting the experiment, the children assumed in advance
whether the material used was in which category.
Experiments
are performed in which the material will be put into water one by one. If the
substance dissolves in water, the substance will disappear and mix with water.
If the material does not dissolve in water, the material will be visible even
when stirred. Children need to make observations on the results of the
experiment.
I could
conclude that the children had been achieved the objectives that had been set
for this lesson. This is because children can make assumptions well and
correctly. At the same time, children can answer some questions related to the
teaching and learning process well.
Since
yesterday I taught about soluble and insoluble substances in water, I wanted to
test the children using other substances. In keeping with the often rainy
weather, I took the opportunity to teach about the Rainbow. Before starting the
teaching and learning process, I asked the children to sing the song
"Rain, rain, go away" which was modified and introduced by me. The
lyrics are as below:
Rain, rain,
go away,
Come again,
another day,
Little
children want to play,
Rain, rain,
go away.
"Eh,
that is wrong, teacher, if it's raining, you have to say, (rain Dua)
This song is very suitable for children because, at the same time, children can remember Dua when it rains. I continued the teaching and learning process by asking about the time the rainbow comes out. Before I explained the Rainbow, I introduced the colors of the Rainbow using the Rainbow stick. I identified that children can recognize and pronounce the colors because I use question and answer methods to ensure that children can achieve the objectives that have been set.
After that, I told the children about the activity that will be done, which is experimenting with making the color of the rainbow using colored chocolate. The chocolates were arranged on paper plates and placed in the water by the children. Children need to observe whether the water changes color or not. As an interlude, I asked the children the condition of the water either soluble or insoluble in the water category. The children had concluded that it was in the water-soluble category and were able to state the reason for the conclusion well.
It can be
seen that through this activity, children can explore a variety of developments
and can relate what they have learned previously. This shows that children
understand well throughout the teaching and learning process.
Tuesday is
a day to make activities and I chose to make parachute activity. The materials
used are plastic, thread, and also weights which are erasers. To attract the
children, I played with a parachute in front of the children during the
induction set. The children were fascinated by the activity and excited to make
it together.
I
distributed the plastic to the children and explains how to make the parachute.
The children pay full attention and patiently wait their turn to tie the thread
in the corner of the plastic. I guided the children in tying the thread which
can train the coordination of the children's eyes and hands while doing the
activity.
After completing the parachute, the children were given time to play with their friends using the parachute. While the children were playing, Tadika was visited by a man who sent a cupcake with cream. The Tadika's owner assigned us to guide the children to decorate the cupcakes themed on Independence Day. Children really enjoy doing these activities because it actively involves them. This method is called hands-on activity. After taking a few pictures as memories, the children were allowed to eat a cupcake to taste their work.
The materials used were stored and the place was tidied up along with the children. This shows that the children have a high helpful attitude and do not need to be forced to do so. Afterward, the children waited for the time for lunch and shower. Following their daily schedule, the children are allowed to play freely before bedtime. I need to look after the children until 2.00 pm and allowed to go home gradually.
25 August 2021 (Wednesday)
Wednesday is a day for children to pray Dhuha. The prayers are conducted under the guidance of the teachers. After they prayed and performed the routine after the prayer, the children were informed to get ready to enter the classroom to carry out the activity. The end of the 8th month is the day to celebrate the independence of our country. Therefore, I took this opportunity to introduce the next state flag in Malaysia. I continued with the Selangor flag using a flashcard. At the end of Step 1, children can state the correct color and arrangement of the Selangor flag without looking at the flashcard. This indicates that the children are achieving the learning objectives that have been set.
The activity is to color the Selangor flag correctly where children are required to color the flag without looking at the flashcard. This is done to ensure that the child understands it well. This activity is carried out under my observation to ensure that the children do not mistake the color of the flag and avoid confusion. I found that the children colored it well and did not exceed the flag line. Children were asked to write the state name of the flag and keep it in a file to collect the flag and hang it with other flags.
Upon completion of the teaching and learning process, children are required to close the class by reciting some prayers. After that, the children are assigned to take a shower and the teachers had to take care of them to take a shower to make sure nothing untoward happens. Children are fed after they have finished bathing and will play freely before bedtime. As usual, teachers need to take care of them while they sleep and send the children home in case the parents come to invite them. At 2 p.m., I was allowed to go home.
From 8.00
am until 8.30 am, I waited at the front of the Tadika to pick up the children.
During those 30 minutes, children are allowed to play games with other friends.
After that, children are required to pick up bags and line up to enter the
Tadika. After I recorded the children’s names and temperature to ensure the
children were present ware in good health, the children were asked to place the
bag and slippers on the shelves provided. Within 5 minutes, children are asked
to line up and get ready to start circle time. Upon completion of circle time,
children need to enter their classrooms to begin the teaching and learning
process.
I had chosen to introduce the flag for the state of Melaka. I had used flashcards as teaching aids so that children can see the flag. Before I introduced the colors in the Melaka flag, I asks the children to spell the name of the state of Melaka after saying it together. The teacher explains about the flag and asks the children questions related to the flag. I found that the children were able to answer it well even without looking at the flashcard. This shows that the child can achieve the objectives set by the teacher.
The
activity is to color the worksheet, the flag of Melaka, correctly, which the
children have to color using the correct color and position. After the children
have finished coloring, I asked the children to write the name for the state in
the space below the flag. I asked the children to take their files and I punches
them to insert the strings into the flags.
Upon completion of the activity, the children were allowed to play with their work and play freely before bathing. Before bathing, children need to recite some prayers to close the class. Children are allowed to pick up bags and shower. Girls and boys had separated the bathroom. After the children bathed, they were instructed to go to the kitchen and eat. At 12.45 pm, the children were instructed to take their beds and the teachers were assigned to look after the children until the children were asleep and allowed to go home at 2.00 pm.
