This time I would like to tell you about the eigth week of industrial training as a practical teacher at Taska Syaz Gong Badak.
14 November 2021 (Sunday)
For the first day in eighth week of practicum at Taska Syaz Gong Badak, I had chosen to do an activity which is sticker line. This activity require the children to stick the sticker that had been provided by following the various line on manilla card. The sticker had been used is in colorful and it is attracting the children's interest. The children start to asks the sticker from teacher. From my observation throughout this activity had been carried out, the children had been able to complete the activity even though there are some sticker they stick it outside the line. But it is alright as I could saw the children take off the sticker after I had showed demonstration.
15 November 2021 (Monday)
Today I did not provide any activities because today was the other practical teacher's turn to create the activities. While the children were doing activities, other children did not do activities because they were one year old who were already can walk. Therefore, I felt that as a teacher, I must always have the idea to create activities for other children so they can also enhance their development holistically. Planned activities are not necessarily activities that need to use teaching aids. Activities can also be done without materials that require body movements such as doing locomotor movements. Therefore, I need to make sure that children in that category also do activities that stimulate their development.
16 November 2021 (Tuesday)
Today, I had chosen to teach about shape by using a pipe cleaner. I had formed a pipe cleaner and described it as three shapes that I would like to introduce to the children, namely square, triangle, and square. Through this activity, children have been able to know the sides of the three shapes. At the same time, children can improve their understanding of something when it involves the use of their senses. In the future, I need to increase the number of activities that can involve children’s multisensory. However, I had chose a activity material that did not suitable with the activity which caused the activity cannot carried out smoothly. This problem supposedly cannot happen because it is afraid the children will loss their interest to do the activity. I need to be more careful in chosen the material for activity process with the children.
17 November 2021 (Wednesday)
No teaching and learning process was done because children are allowed to play freely. I and the other teachers only acted as facilitators and observers. However, there was an accident had happened when there is a child name Aisy who stuck her toes in the fence grill. It had caused her toes become blueish. I inform that to the other teacher. The teacher took the ice and put it on Aisy's toes. The bruises began to fade but were still visible. I feel that if I panic in that situation, there are chances where I did something wrong. So, in case something untoward happens, I have to always be calm and inform the teacher on duty to get the next instruction. This is because my knowledge and experience are still shallow. I need to study with someone who is experienced in such matters to ensure that I deal with the problem better in the future.
18 November 2021 (Thursday)
The children can learn something through various sources. Sensory is one of the sources that give the children chances to learn. Sensory play encourages learning through exploration, curiosity, problem solving and creativity. It helps to build nerve connections in the brain and encourages the development of language and motor skills. From my observation of the other practicum teacher's activity which is hand stamping activity. The children had showed happy and excited facial expression when saw the water color on their palm. From that activity, the children could gain about the color and encourages them to feel the rare texture of liquids. Through this activity, the children had been able to improve their sensory development.
